Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question you don't see here? Email !

Why should my team play in this tournament? Are there prizes?

That one's easy: because it's FUN (and, good for you!). There are a lot of awesome ways to spend a weekend, but we think that spending it on the soccer field with teammates and friends is one of the very best. And yes - the champions in each division win swag and $100 off registration to the next year's tournament!

Why does PWSL host this tournament?

For the same reason! We like to play as many weekends a year as we can - hosting this tournament helps us cover operating costs to run our league of 32 teams (and approximately 700 players!) for three seasons each year.

Can I play on both a women’s AND a coed team? Will the game times conflict?

We will do our best to schedule the games for two teams not to conflict, but we can not guarantee there will be a break in between the women’s/coed games (we want to keep the schedule fair to teams who aren’t doubling up). Just make sure your team captain includes a note when registering with what two teams will be sharing players!

Will you/why don’t you have a (men's 18 , women's 60 , coed 40 , etc.) division?

We would LOVE to host any division for which there is enough interest - but we don’t want to offer a division that we cannot fill.  If you are interested in playing in division you don't see listed on the registration form please email us at ASAP! If there is sufficient interest, we can add the division!

What are the skill levels for the A/B/C brackets in the divisions?

All divisions are recreational.  However,  the "A" division includes players who have played at a competitive level (ie, competitive club, college etc.); the "C" division will include players who are beginners or haven't played in many years.

Please avoid registering "down". Matches are the most fun when the competition is close - it's not fun to get crushed, but it's not much fun to win that game either! Keep in mind the final placement of teams in the divisions remains at the discretion of the Tournament Directors.

Wait, what? This tournament isn't at the old field, close to the beach? Why?

After the 2012 tournament, we felt that although Robb Field is a fabulous location (which we will miss too!), it is not a safe field due to the playing surface.  The general field condition, especially the many gopher holes (complete with live gophers!) affected the quality of the play - and we want to offer a high-quality tournament.  Frances Ryan Park has a great layout for this style of tournament, and the fields are well maintained.

Frances Ryan Park is unfortunately farther from the coast - however, the field is still only 30 minutes from the beautiful beaches in Carlsbad and Oceanside.  There are other attractions in Escondido - like Stone Brewery Bistro & Gardens (make a reservation for a tour!) and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park - and we hope teams and their families will consider taking advantage!

I changed my mind, can I get a refund?

  • 100% (less $25) 60 days before the tournament start date
  • 50% (less $25) 30 days before the tournament start date
