League Meeting Minutes

Called to order 7:30 p.m.

Information for upcoming events and miscellaneous made available

  • Founder's Cup 8/27 at Torero Stadium; event can be viewed at Princess Pub in Little Italy
  • Indoor league available in new Poway location
  • Donald Whelstine (massage therapist for the Sockers) offers a PWSL discount
  • Dawn Hlavac of SCORE brought jersey samples and catalogs for teams interested in new uniforms
  • Yuki Fujii suggested a Sockers' ticket sales drive for a game during the Turkey Shoot weekend as a method for the league to offset league costs. PWSL would receive $4 per ticket sold. She will bring packets to the October league meeting

Fall league

  • Registration packets were handed out; instructions for completion will be emailed by Carole
  • Jackie handed out card packets for lineups and statistics/ref reports
  • Player photo not needed if player was registered in 2002-2003 season
  • Add fees have increased to $15, drop fees are still $2 per player
  • Lindbergh's first games will start at 9:00am rather than the 8:30am time at other fields
  • Other fields scheduled include Westview Upper and Lower, Challenger, Mira Mesa Rec Center and possibly the Pt. Loma HighSchool
  • Teams with new colors to report: changes. Breakers will be lt. blue & black / Arsenal will be lt. blue/ When's Lunch will be red.
  • Notify Mary Frank about any necessary scheduling changes asap, especially for upcoming Women's World Cup finals, Silverback 6v6 tourney, etc.
  • Registration packets must be submitted by 8/30 in order for team/player to play the first game on September 7th.
  • Fee balance of $700 due by Saturday, 8/30.

Referee Liaison, Ray Theep

  • It was requested by Sandy Wheeler that the referees bring an alternate shirt to their games in the event of color conflicts with one of the teams

Other items/issues

  • Carole passed out proxy voting forms for teams to sign for the California Soccer Association
  • Players/Magic and Breakers/Run Amok were notified of schedule/field change on 8/27/03.
  • All team players must have matching color socks and shorts and numbers on their jerseys. Teams must have alternate jerseys or pennies (with numbers!) in the event of color conflict; home team is responsible for changing
  • The league has to incur the cost of flags and nets lost due to inattentive storage at the end of games
  • Waiting list of players will be emailed by Carole
