Kori from the San Diego Sockers' office provided information regarding the Sockers' ticket sales fundraiser for game Saturday evening over Turkey Shoot tournament weekend. She provided flyers and ticket order forms for the team reps. Money and order form should be ready by November 16th in order to allow for ticket processing. Suggestions for getting them to Kori included her picking them up at the fields during the 11/16 games or possibly dropping them in the registration box at Dina Rodriguez's house (Carole will ask Dina if okay).
Information for upcoming events and miscellaneous made available
- Turkey Shoot: Carole put out a call for San Diego teams to enter tournament. As of now, most teams are from out of town
- Carole will email Turkey Shoot volunteer task list to team reps this week. Suggestion was made that in addition to the fine for teams who do not provide volunteers during the tournament, a larger fine should be levied against those who DO volunteer and don't show up
Fall league
- PLHS field: football is still going so no goals can be set up. The nets are to be strung on the football goalposts. Nets, flags, cones and stepladder are to be picked up at 3639 Voltaire Street and returned after last game.
- Lindberg field: nets and flags are often not stowed properly and container is unlocked. PWSL is considering purchase of another portable but until then, last teams playing need to ensure goals are chained correctly and container locked. Chains need to secure the end goals as well as the cross bars (thru the eye bolts).
- There was a discussion regarding possible make-up games for 11/2/03. The only confirmed field was Challenger. Other field availability was still unknown. However, due to past experience, many teams opted to forfeit after a holiday weekend. Teams all agreed not to make up the games.
Other
- Fire victims: two PWSL members, Donna Sandsmark and Ellie Reid, lost their homes in the fire and suggestions were made as to how to help them. Gift cards seemed the best idea and team reps will collect money from their teams and purchase gift cards. Gift cards should then be mailed to Jackie (statistician) for distribution.
- Suggestions made for other options for summer soccer, i.e., 7-aside instead of full teams.
Referee Liaison, Ray Theep
- Complaints were made about refs not checking player cards at games on Westview Upper and standard of referees
Meeting Adjourned: 1st Kim Townsend 2nd Becky Muka
